loreal-professionnel-tecni-art-fresh-dust-dry-shampoo-reviewOMG! L’O real, where had you been all my life? I wish I’d had LÓreal fresh dust dry shampoo with me on all my previous travel trips and yes, of course on all those bad hair days and innumerable occasions of sudden party announcements. It would have saved me so much time, effort, and yes, my face! (You see, sometimes, life leaves you with no choice but to put up with the grim and stink of greasy hair!)

If you are like me, who hasn’t heard or known about dry shampoo, you must be wondering what’s the whole deal or fuss about a dry shampoo. After all, the concept of a ‘dry shampoo’ sounds a bit odd or extraordinary to a first timer like me.

While the trick of sprinkling talcum powder or hair powder on hair roots for absorbing excess oil is well known and around for ages, using a specially formulated dry shampoo to spice up dirty hair is something really new, at least in India.

So when I got this can of Fresh Dust dry shampoo from L’Oreal Professional, I had a feeling that it was going to change my life.
And it did! But before I go on to the full review of L’Oreal Professional Tecni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo and how it transformed my beauty routine, here’s a bit about dry shampoo:

What is a Dry Shampoo?

Dry shampoo is basically an absorbent powder that comes in a jar or an aerosol can. Despite being an absorbent powder it is different from a hair powder or talcum powder in the sense that along with absorbing excess oil from the roots and scalp, it also refreshes the hair, removes product buildup, adds volume and extends the time between washes.

So when you don’t want to shower or don’t have time for regular shampooing and conditioning, dry shampoo can come in as quite handy.

My Experience with L’Oreal Professional Tecni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo

L'Oreal-fresh-dust-dry-shampoo-reviewPackaging and Texture:

L’Oreal fresh dust dry shampoo comes in a sleek white can bottle with a spray nozzle.
The bottle is light-weight and the shampoo has a powdery texture.

How to Use L’Oreal Dry Shampoo:

To use the shampoo, spray on hair from 6 inches away and then brush the portion of hair you sprayed the shampoo to distribute it evenly.

Fragrance:

Catching my first whiff of L’Oreal tecni art dry shampoo was like – am I sniffing freshly baked lemon tarts or inhaling the scent of my fave furniture cleaner! Yes, the shampoo has a strong citrusy fragrance and I found its scent pleasant and fresh to the core.

Performance:

Now coming to the real thing that most of you are here for – how did L’Oreal dry shampoo perform? Is it really effective in removing funk and transforming hair?

To erase all my doubts about the working of a dry shampoo and L’Oreal fresh dust dry shampoo in particular, I went full one week without shampoo! I have dry wavy hair with super oily scalp that starts producing oil right on the second day after wash. So to keep my hair looking presentable, I have to shampoo and condition them every third day.

Now you can well imagine the state of my hair by the end of seventh day. My otherwise bouncy mane had morphed into a greasy critical mass complete with limp roots and grumpy scalp.
It was then in a state of full lankiness, I reached for that bottle of dry shampoo.

With visions of a complete hair nirvana, I sprayed the shampoo on my greasy mop as per instructions on the bottle. In no time, my hair smelled as fresh and light as a glass of fresh lime soda straight out of the refrigerator! Yes, it definitely renewed my hair and lifted my roots but that was the high point for me and my hair.

Unfortunately, the bliss didn’t last as long as I had expected. Just after the second day my hair got into the same mess again! But at least it gave me a shower replacement. So even though the effect lasted for only a day or two, it meant a lot to me, especially in case of emergencies, when you just don’t have the option or luxury for showering and shampooing!

  • Has not caused any hair fall or allergy
  • Adds texture to hair and lifts the roots

R2B Rating: 3/5

Overall Take:

Overall, dry shampoo is a miracle invention. It’s a life savior for those situations when you don’t have the luxury or option to wash the hair.
L’Oreal professional is the first to launch dry shampoo in India. So while there are dry shampoos from other brands like BBlunt, TIGI, etc. now in India, L’Oreal tecni art fresh dust dry shampoo is my first dry shampoo.

And being my first dry shampoo, I have loved this product to the core. Though, I don’t have anything to compare this dry shampoo with, I still recommend this dry shampoo as must-have product for traveling and emergency situations.
